Czech Republic Missions Trip 2007               Back To MISSIONS  Back To EVENTS

For the second year running a team from the church (11 in all this time) went to Pardubice in the Czech Republic to serve Jimmie and Hulda Bennett (an American missionary couple) in the work they are doing out there. It was a great time for all the team, if challenging at times, but it was a privilege to be able to serve & see God work through the 2 weeks.

The team got involved in a number of different things:

Street Work - A few times we were able to go out on the streets, taking a guitar with us, sing some worship songs & more importantly share the Gospel with the Czech people. It was tough work, but also rewarding, and there were some good contacts & conversations had.

Practical Work - We were also able to serve by putting our hands to various practical things that needed doing around the language school that is run in Pardubice, doing some sorting ready for the new term soon starting.

Kids Camp - The highlight of the trip was probably having the chance to run a kids camp for around 30 kids - all coming from children’s homes in the area. They were kids who had been starved of love for much of their lives and we had the opportunity to come alongside and look to make a difference in their lives. The camp ran for just under a week and meetings were held every day giving opportunity for the kids to hear the Gospel, and a number responded - we pray that God would continue to work in their hearts & keep those that came to Him during the week.

There were also other opportunities during the week - we visited a refugee centre, and also had time to spend with and minister to the local churches. All in all it was a profitable trip, and we pray there would be fruit from it. It was also our privilege to use the trip as a send-off for one of our church members - Kath is spending 2 years in Pardubice as a missionary, and we look forward to what God will do through her in the time ahead.
