Czech Republic Missions Trip 2009
This was
the 4th trip we’ve been on to serve Jimmie & Hulda Bennett in
Pardubice, Czech Republic. The previous trips have been mainly focussed
on different forms of outreach, along with some other practical ways in
which we’ve been able to serve, but this trip was different. Because of
the place that Jimmie & Hulda are at in their ministry, our sole task
while we were out for just over a week was to help them in the building
of their new house. As a couple they have made a decision to really make
a home for themselves in the country and commit themselves to
ministering to the Czech people for the long-term. We are really excited
to have been able to serve them in this way, and look forward to the
ways in which God will use this new house for the impact of many lives
in that country.
As you
will see from some of the photos, most of the week we held some kind of
digging implement in our hands. In fact, a lot of what we did was to dig
trenches for pipes, put the pipes in, and then cover them up, so you
would never know we’d even done anything! Alongside that, we were able
to dig what we thought would be a well (until we found out that we had
no permission to dig a well) but ended up as a water storage tank in the
corner of their back garden, which God-willing will one day become a
well for drinking water.
It was a
great though tiring week for the 8 of us who went, sleeping in a
half-built house, and frantically preparing shelter when a storm
suddenly blew up were the highlights, and we look forward to more
opportunities to serve in the Czech Republic in the future.
