In mid-July 2007 we had a
group of 6 university students join a number of our own church members
for a week focussed on evangelism. The week was both about training,
which took place in the morning, and then opportunities to get out there
and do some evangelism on the streets, door-to-door, in the schools, and
in a few youth groups.
A different speaker came in
every day to give the training - the focus was to get those who came so
grounded in and gripped by the truths of the Gospel that it would just
flow out of them as they went out doing the outreach. The Bible says
that out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks & we wanted those
that came to fall more and more in love with the Gospel, that they
couldn’t help speaking it out.

After a light lunch the team
then went out either onto the main high street in Cardiff, or knocking
on people’s doors in the area around the church. There were some great
opportunities to share the gospel one on one with people, and also to do
some open-air preaching in the high street.
Some of the other highlights
of the week was when the whole church (or a large proportion) came
together to cover the whole of the local estate knocking on every door
and inviting them to church. It was a great time, not just of outreach,
but for the whole church to reach out together and have a time of
fellowship at the end of the evening. We were also able to do some
assemblies in primary schools in Cwmtrch (in the Swansea Valley) on the
Friday, and there were a few other opportunities in kids clubs & youth
clubs through the week.
All in all it was a great
time and a real blessing to all who were involved. We look forward to
more of the same in 2008.
