2 Things
How to be an
effective Christian at university!
Find a church whose teaching is firmly Bible-based and be committed
there. This will provide you with a solid foundation from which to step
out.
Decide now to take a stand on what you believe and never compromise. Let
it be known that you’re a Christian. Better yet, live what you believe
so people will have no doubts about where you stand.
Find Christian friends and support each other. Be honest about your
struggles, pray for each other and rejoice in each other’s growth.
Don’t neglect regular private prayer and spending time in God’s
Word. University offers so many distractions that your quiet times are
often the first things to suffer.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. No-one’s perfect and we often make
mistakes. Always take it back to God and He will be faithful. Find
someone you can trust and talk things through with them.
Some things to
Remember:
In the world you
will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
John 16:33.
Believe God!
God has promised "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Heb. 13:5).
That means, if you’re His, He will be with you wherever you go and will
never let you fall. God always keeps His promises!
Pray!
There is no problem too big or small for Him to handle nor is any sin
too bad for Him to forgive through the finished work of Jesus Christ on
the cross. If you blow it, take it back to Him every time, no matter how
hard it is. "For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will
not turn away face from you, if ye return to Him." (2 Chr. 30:9).
Keep your eyes
fixed on Jesus! Don’t let anyone or anything dazzle you but Him. Make
Him the centre of your life and He will carry you through and bless you
abundantly. Look "unto Jesus, the author and finisher of o His ur faith"
(Hebrews 12:2)
Make a
difference! You’ve only got
the next few years to serve God in this university. Let God use you to
make a difference! "And do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is
that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." (Romans 12:2 |
