Introduction
Gabalfa Baptist Church is affiliated with the Fellowship of
Independent Evangelical Churches. We are a church who base our beliefs
and service on the known will of God as revealed in the Bible (see our
Statement of Faith). As part of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, not
only do we seek to support and equip our own members for their
personal growth, but in response to the "Great
Commission", we also desire, in the power of the Holy
Spirit, to equip and to provide opportunity to reach out to the lost in
Cardiff and the world. We want to be used by God to spread the Good
News of our Lord Jesus Christ.
What are the things that make Gabalfa Baptist Church what it is?

The Churches Mission...
...is to reach and disciple people of all ages for Jesus
Christ in response to the great commission (Matthew
28:18-20) towards building a community of mature believers who
in a loving relationship with God and with one another, are committed
to growing and mutually encouraging one another, as we fellowship
together, in worship, prayer, Bible study/discussion, and helping with
the practical needs of one another. (1
John 3:16-18 ; Gal
6:10).
It is also to have an impact on our community by being
actively in the world and actively not of it. We want to
show the transforming love and holiness of Christ in our lives (Matthew
5:13-16) through ministering to their practical needs (James
2:14-26), always with the active goal of introducing them to Christ,
the Lord of our lives (Mark
16:15-16; 1
Peter 3:15).
Maturing Believers are moving towards being...
-
Those who know what they believe and why they believe it.
-
Those who can rightly divide the word of truth.
-
Those who, through obedience to the Word, can discern between
good and evil; right and wrong; applying it to day to day life.
-
Those who, in their union with Christ, have developed the
consistent (stable) characteristics of love.
-
Those who having been blessed are blessing others through the
developing the use of their talents and spiritual gifts for the
edifying of the Body of Christ.
-
Those who are consistently walking in the power of the
resurrected Christ (Philip 3).
-
Those who are pressing on in their walk through faith, being
conformed to the character of Christ, in the fruit of humility,
of wisdom, and confidence (boldness) in the faith.
